Christmas rush over

Now the Christmas rush is over it's given me a bit of breathing space at long last :) My most popular thing this year was definitely my rainbow fairies, I did a series of 4 of these in different ethnic groups, which is what made them so popular I believe. Out of the 4, by far the Chinese one was my favourite.

I also did some more woodland scenes as they were popular too, but very time consuming.

Do pop over to my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cosmiccrafter and have a look at my latest things.

Happy New Year !!

A little late I know but Happy New Year to anyone that pops along to read my blog. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas too. Mine was great, although I have to say this being the first Christmas in 41 yrs that I haven't had any of my kids with me, it felt a bit odd and I missed them loads. My oldest daughter Emma, her hubby and my grand daughter Lacey Mae, did come and stay for a few days just before New Year, and I really enjoyed seeing them.

Seeing as it's been a while since I posted on here I thought I'd add a few extra photo's than usual. Some from the brief cold spell we had way before Christmas and some taken around Christmas and New Year time. For Christmas, Jim bought me a nice Fuji compact camera, as we've missed some really good unexpected things, just because I hadn't got my big camera with me. So now this little compact camera sits in my handbag all the time. As far as normal day time photo's go, I have to say it's excellent the quality and colour is extremely good and almost on a par with my big dslr camera. Night time and macro shots however it falls down a bit in quality, but it's so good to have a camera with us all the time, I'll forgive it.

So here we go, to start off with 3 photo's of hoar frost taken just before Christmas.

If you look hard at this next photo in the middle on the right hand side you'll see tiny part of a rainbow cloud I managed to capture.

This next photo was taken on New Year Eve, what a welcome change from all the grey and gloomy weather we'd been having when the sun popped out for a change. It showed off the River Lune and the Aquaduct off really well.

Finally, a couple of photo's Jim took when he went off for a bike ride the other day. This includes of course one of his bikes lol.

More cards and wooden Christmas decorations

Not such a long wait this time people :-) As before I've been very busy doing some more cards, and also some pyrographed wooden Christmas decorations, a new thing for me to try out. So far they have been very popular, in fact most of the ones in the photo's have already sold, but I thought I'd share them with you, as I'm already doing more of a very similar design.

Jim and I did a Christmas fair last week, and I have to say it was quite good fun. It was for the Green Party, so as you would expect there were quite a lot of alternative and hippy type people, which pleased me a lot. There was also live music of lots of different genres throughout the day, towards the end there was some music that I can only describe as medieval type music, much to my surprise a couple of lady customers started dancing lol, and they danced in between all the stalls for the whole set, which was sometimes quite difficult as the fair was busy right up until the end. But everyone took it all in good part and I think as much of the applause was for the dancers as the musicians lol.

Anyway here's my latest creations, the cards are £2.50 each the same as the others, and the pyrographed decs have got the prices on them, I put a 20p piece in the centre to give you some idea of the size of them. By the way these decorations were all made from fallen wood, and no tree's were harmed. The top set of decorations are £2 each, the 2nd lot £1.50 each, and the last lot £1 each.

Whatever happened to cellophane !!

For the last few days I've been trying to find some coloured cellophane to use on a project. I've checked florist shops, craft shops, cheap shops, stationery shops and yet none of them seem to sell it any more. I can get clear cellophane with flowers, stars, father christmases, easter eggs but NO coloured plain stuff, how strange and pretty annoying too. I got so desperate I even considered buying one of those Christmas tins of chocolates that are wrapped individually in cellophane, but that seems a bit extreme, especially as me nor my daughter are particularly fond of Quality Street lol.

On the upside, some really pretty glass tiles arrived from America yesterday....my little treat to myself. Why buy glass from USA I hear you asking, well basically because it's considerably cheaper to buy them from there, than here in the UK even with the extra postage costs. Also America seems to have a huge choice of products for doing mosaics compared to the UK too, which is quite a shame really, I would far prefer to buy British but not at the inflated prices they charge.

Coming back down the island yesterday, the mountinas looked amazing, even more snow has fallen since we went up there the other day. Just our luck we went too soon lol.
